Reformatting laptop, need driver help

OK, I intend on formatting my Acer Aspire 5600 tomorrow morning. My issue is this:

I have downloaded the folder with the LAN drivers for the laptop. However there is no Setup.exe file of any kind. Just 3 .sys data files and some notepad thing.

Now, I went into Device Manager in Windows and looked at the driver being used for it and it matches the file name of one of the .sys files in the folder I got from Acer. In Device Manager it shows the driver file as being located in Windows/system32/drivers. My question is this: If I just C&P'd the file from the Acer-folder to the Windows driver folder, would Windows automatically find the driver and start using it?

This is a Windows XP question, btw.

(makes me wish this thing could run Vista - Vista would find me the drivers without me having to do a damn thing)

I don't want to nLite the OS. I want a clean , trouble-free OS install without any complications.

Just answer the question ...

I DID read your question, look at what i posted.
It will take your drivers and make an xp image/disc. its not something that will be on your os. Much cleaner and trouble free than a folder of straggling files you hope will windows will find.

No it wont, i tried this a while back. Does not work, you will have to scan for new hardware and then select teh drivers.

OK Jsnipy, assuming I did things your way, what is meant in the guide by source files? Do I have to put the Windows XP into the CD drive and copy everything that I see there onto a folder onto my hard drive?

When you use it (visual interface) you point it to an install disk/or source file. Then you add the drivers you want. Then is produces an XP iso/or disk that has been merged with all the drivers (similar to how computer manufactures do). When you format an install using this disk you made, all of the drivers will be installed without any intervention.

nlite is pretty intuitive.

OK, thanks man. I might give it a shot. I thought I was going to be doing the reformatting today, but then I realized today is Sunday ... so the school book store isn't open for me to go there and buy XP Pro.
