Well... Should I? I have the chance, a few friends are going, but I'm put off by the list of games on the site. I play Left 4 Dead out of them.

My friends are saying that there will be other games, depending on what others want...

Who here is going?

I have 7 days to decide in order to get the ticket cheap.

Stereotypes gotta love 'em.

Anyway, if you're going with people you know, it will be good. The games don't have to be on a certain list. It's only competitive games and tournaments that are selected...You can play any game you want there.

Where will you be sleeping? If you have a car maybe good to stay at the hostel near Stoneleigh, otherwise it's the tents for you

I would have been/gone going to i36/7 but I was in Spain for i36 and in the Baltics states for i37, but i suppose a holiday beats LAN

EDIT: yeah, head over to the cod4 section, if the competition is getting sponsored by Rustlers again, there is free burgers and shit lol

that's true.  i take everything i know about LAN parties from pictures.  although there always seem to be those guys, and JUST those guys.

i guess if i had the chance i would go.  there are never any LAN parties around here so i dunno.

Well...There is 3 options,

BYOC - Bring your own PC,

TUP - Turn up and play, quite a bit more expensive

SPEC - Just watch, enjoy more of the social aspect

Apparently it can... But it's no featured event, which sucks.

Well, I'm gonna go, I decided. Hit me up if you're going, too.

I went to i33. I'm more than likely going to i37.

Jamesey: The only way there'll be a sponsored BF2 tournament is if EA steps in and provides some dosh - like in the past.

A huge party full of smelly, dirty guys, (it's not a steriotype if it's true,) cooped up an a warehouse for days on end with nothing better to do than play computer games? Sure, sounds like paradise.

If it's your thing then go for it, I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Will there at least be booze?

Last year there was far too much booze. The CS:Source kiddies were puking everywhere and making a right mess.

And there's nothing quite like the ironic denigrating of gamers to only assert your own awesome faux-masculinity through alcoholism. From one shitty stereotype to another, eh?

Well I don't drink, so that's not a problem for me. I'm sure it'll make some of my friends happy, though

I'm not too keen on going, but apparently "It's the last thing we'll all get to do together before most of us go off to Uni" (Which is one guy, by the way).

I just wish I had more a repertoire of games that I play.

It's basically... BF2. L4D I only really play on Co-Op with my friends. I'll just have to go be the best at BF2 and hope that people there play it.

Uzique, I asked if there would be booze. I'm a 21 year old male. I drink. I'm not an alcoholic nor did I suggest that I was. Cheers for the vote of confidence though.

If you need to drink to have a good time at events such as LAN parties then I feel sorry for you... that was my point. You're hopping from one terribad bandwagon (Fat Sweaty LAN Geeks Mmmm!) to another lame ass bandwagon rather effortlessly, that one being the 'I'm Always Drunk- It's Cool!' or the 'I Need Drink To Have Fun' . If you enjoy playing computer games to any degree and have some friends to go with then LANs are great fun; events such as i37 aren't quite the sniggering Dungeons'n'Dragons convention that you imagine them to be.

Seems like it's pointless debate time! So be it! I'll get my "Pointless Debate" hat. Oh it's on my head is it? Seems I'm always wearing the darn thing. That explains a lot.

I don't know where you're getting "Ty needs a drink to have fun" or "Ty thinks being drunk is cool" from my "Will there at least be booze?" or the fact that I drink. However since you brought it up I do make the point that at social occasions alcohol does generally make everyone relax and have a good time. I'm not talking about drinking to excess either, that's a whole different story. If this is indeed a huge social occasion, (to be honest the way I see it, actual social interaction isn't the point of this kind of event but no matter,) then booze is generally something one would expect. My question of "Will there at least be booze" is innocent enough although I can understand why it might not be seen that way.

As to my terribly insulting steriotype: Take a large group of people, put them in a warehouse, feed them on junkfood, limit their sleep and give them games - add to this the absence of anything resembling a shower. What you're going to get is, and I quote:

Ty wrote:

I know it's not a spit-polished image but it's not exactly wrong is it?

Obviously I don't see it the way you do. Very few of my friends are gamers. With those that are on the few occasions I have a game with them I don't find it the thrilling social occasion that I guess you must. However I never said that I thought that huge LAN events weren't fun, I only implied that I personally wouldn't find them hugely exciting. You, with different friends and a different attitude obviously do - more power to you, enjoy it, have a blast but I'm sure you'll understand if I don't join you.

(By the way I never did say "Fat sweaty LAN Geeks"... in fact I didn't even say any of the words that make up that sentence. Methinks thou doest protest too much. )

My final word is that I'm sure LAN parties are a riot but personally they're not my thing. If we want to take this debate further I suggest we get a group of guys after a long gaming binge and a group of guys after a long drinking binge and get them to fight each other. It's only barely connected to what we were discussing here but it should at least be a bit of a laugh.
