Can any of you remember the last time you got hit by a launched grenade? I know I can't. It's funny though because I still like to use it myself and I own just fine. Especially since all the proned PKM'ers make it easier for me. It just takes *gasp* the ability to aim now.

Anyone have thoughts or feelings on this now underappreciated kit?

I still love playing assualt and the GL at ranges that i use it at aren't affected at all, with the exception of engaging armored vehicles or vehicles in general at closer ranges. now that's a bitch to do now.

i only ever used it on vehicles or over fences before i unlocked the g3 but the other night i forgot to select a weapon before i spawned and when i ran out of bullets i started using the gl and killed guys with no trouble, i cant imagine how it could be easier than it is now...

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but it's not very effective against vehicles anymore. The other day I was playing on Mashtuur city. I spawned as MEC at the gas station North of the hotel. I was for sure I chose the special ops kits but ended up with the assault. So I made my way down toward the hotel and finally get there I notice a USMC guy in a hummer trying to capture the hotel cp. I was at the highest point near one of our artillary guns.

I think hmm going to take him out with the grenade launcher so I switch to it. I aim and shoot. For sure it hit because I see the car shake, about a second later it blows right next to the car. I was like aww man gotta use the main gun. I switch and take him out, taking some damage because he spots me.

This really sucks cause I've been killed by people at close range with the Grenade Launcher. They shot at the ground kill me but they survive. This doesn't happen very often though. It's curious how it doesn't bounce at close range yet when you launch it against something far it does. That's why I don't really use the assault kit much. Well that's my experience with the current Grenade Launcher.

I felt the nerf stick with the GL. I only use it to take out light vehicles but since 1.2 there have been several instances where my grenade bounced off a vehicle. It pisses me off that my legitimate use of the noob tube to take out vehicles had to be nerfed because people abused it.

I don't really get how people kill anyone with that stupid grenade launcher. If I try it, the grenade lands and hits the guy in the foot, but he just stands there and kills me... like wtf, does the grenade have to explode on your eye to kill you? A frag grenade kills you from 10 meters away, but a grenade from a GL has to physically hit you?

I dunno, maybe it's just my lack of n00bism..

2 GL hits used to take out a HMMWV or Vodnik.  Now with the minimum arm time, you have to hold a PhD in mathematics to properly work out the arc and distance necessary to hit the transports, since at any range less than about 40 or 50 m the nade will just bounce off the vehicle harmlessly.  Plus it was always good for a last-ditch bit of damage when confronted by an APC or tank.  Now you're more likely to get a TK when the nade bounces off the vehicle and detonates at a friendly's feet.

Against infantry it's better.  As Ajax_the_Great1 noted, it's just as powerful as before but actually requires some brains to use now.  It's great against prone spammers who are unlikely to get up in time, even if the nade skitters along on the ground for a bit before it blows.
