Backstory: I was talking to this chic online[somewhat unimportant], listening to some music... and I swear to fucking god I hear a cat meowing, so I turn the music down, listen... and then I hear it again, I go outside, check, NOTHING... what the fuck!?   So I sort of brush it off, I figure I must be hearing things...

So now having nothing to distract me, I hear it again... Now I back the music up thinking, "Why would this song have a cat meowing in it? It makes no sense. Oh well, worth a shot."

Sure enough. 1:56 into the song, a cat meowing.

Now I looked the song up on youtube for you guys, but if you already have the song its at or around 1:56 give or take a second or two

In the youtube version, the sound happens at about 2:00-2:01

Now is this a meow, or something different?

It just makes no sense... what is it supposed to be?

Do you really think your cool because you respond to a (obviously in your mind stupid) thread with a single, as basic as you can get word followed by a period to reiterate the amount of fuck that you give?

This is the internet, on it you will find shit you think is stupid, if you cant contribute then just leave it alone. (Look I added a period to prove my point, I'm fucking awesome.) (Oh shit, did it again)

On my third listen (of that part at 1:56, I couldn't listen to the song), it vaguely did sound like a tiny little kitteh. But it probably wasn't more than a synth-sax or similar.

I'm running 5.1 ...

Maybe the sound is getting drowned out by the other parts of the song because of the 2.1

I never did notice it on headphones or my buddies 2.1 setup...

Running normal music through 5.1 won't really give you any aural advantages- it won't be a case of sound being "drowned out" and then heard clearly in 2.1... music isn't really recorded or balanced with 5.1 in mind, a well EQ'd 2.1 set will probably produce a richer and fuller sound, to be honest. Of course there are exceptions and workarounds, just before Freezer and Sup both collectively jump on my dick.

I didn't actually listen to the OP because, well, Asher Roth most certainly does not deserve his own thread. Go listen to real hip-hop / music / art.

If the sound is being played by one speaker in a 5.1 array then wouldn't it make it easier to hear rather than the sound + the beat + the voice being played by a single speaker?

That's what I meant basically

You'd be lucky to get that sort of balance and EQ, typically because music is not 'made' for 5.1 channel-audio, the sound-system half-arses it and divides the audio track over each speaker; in effect what you are getting isn't a 'true' 5.1 surround but rather a fifth of the full sound being played through each speaker in arse-quality. Of course this is based on the assumption that you only have a typical 5.1-PC set-up, if you have an awesome 5.1 hi-fi then I'm sure your amp and sound system will cope much better- I'm talking about the 'average' PC-driven audio system. My Logitech Z-5500 makes a terrible job of most music tracks/genres- my rear speakers kinda break down into low-static fuzz garbage.

I heard them both. I hear loads of random crap like that all the time. There is one song on my mp3 player that makes a sound exactly the same to my old phone's message tone. It's only just audible and EVERY time I heard it I would check my phone. And there is one song that has the sound of like when someone talks on msn.

I was listening to a song last week, and it sounded like the mumble of someone talking, and because I had headphones on, every time I heard it I stopped the music and went to check no one was calling me.

No, this is definitely not a cat in the recording.  It is some sort of synth instrument played on his Casio.  However, if you listen very closely, you will hear the sweet sound of relief at the 4:32 mark.
