Its my sis's PC (she really can't take care of her PCs well-lappy kaput and now desktop), not sure how much specs would help but I tried a different PSU, swapped RAM and it did not help. Monitor switches between analog an digital like theres no signal but without any GFX card the monitor says no signal so it has to be receiving some kind of signal when GFX card is in its slot. Took the HDD out (its a fairly new WD ATA I bought half a year ago) and put it in an enclosure and its no detected. But even if the HDD doesn't work properly thats no reason to get no picture. I have no other graphics card to try as this is an AGP card (8x, mobo 4x). Removed the fan from the CPU cooler (the cooler is rather large and can be used as a passive cooler) and it took really long to get warmer (1 minute) which I find is odd, should have gotten warmer sooner. Not sure what to suspect, mobo lights on as usual so either GFX card or the CPU. CMOS battery has been reset with no success.
Pics of your sister will help us determine the problem
Sounds like gfx card is fubar. Do you have any cheap arse PCI graphics cards to try? (or the AGP slot is dead)
edit: so does the hdd crunch like normally booting?

I could swear I saw the HDD icon in My computer for a second when plugged it when it was in an external enclosure.
Try resetting the cmos. Sometimes mobo's insist on using an old graphics card when there is none. The other option would be to borrow someone else's video card but resetting the cmos is easier.
Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
