the book is horrible to read, in terms of content, of course, but also in terms of style of writing.

on a side note: the bavarian ministry of finance has the publishing rights (?) on the book (because hitler officially "lived" in in munich until the end of the third reich, when the alliies confiscated his estate)

Now I haven't read the book so I don't know, but could it not be because of the German -> English translation?

It's available in a lot of libraries here for borrowing (but hard to buy).  Not at all restricted.

drunkface, i think cl4u53w1t2 read it in german. so did i. now i'm not exactly amazing at german, but even i could tell it was just a really shite book (not even counting the content).

it may have been triumph des willens i had problems getting hold of.

He was a genius.  Look at what he accomplished.  On the other hand, I wouldn't put much faith in the ramblings of a dictator.  Especially one so screwed up as Hitler.

yup, read it in german (mother tongue, so i can judge about the style of writing pretty well)

and ted: imo, triumph des willens is overrated. sure, it was somehow revolutionary in terms of filming/director technics, but i really don't find the atmosphere etc. that impressing

same, to a lesser extent, goes for olympia

well, maybe i should do some research on leni riefenstahl and her filming work...

I think he dictated it to a guy in jail... That might explain it.

that guy was rudolf heß and he was arrested because he participated in hitler's coup d'état.

well, maybe not writing it but dictating it might have s.th. to do with it...
