Hey guys I just got a 20" monitor unfournetly the resolution is 1600x900 which is really not common so I'm wondering if 1600x900 doesn't show up on my settings, is there a way to hack and have it run on 1600x900?

(I'm installing BF2 right now to check but I'd like to know)

It's native in the 1.5 patch or you could right click on the BF2 desktop icon. Hit "properties" and add "+szx 1600 +szy 1200"

Hope that helps.

Well the beta is out now. It's got a new map, slightly improved hit detection, and native support for higher resolutions.

At the moment the native widescreen support (selectable in the video options) in the 1.50 beta1 does nothing more than the command line override of the resolution, i.e. the FOV is not adapted proportionally. The patch code monkey over at DICE has already put it on a to-do list though.

nah man now after installing 1.5 i think i got a even bigger problem... I'll bold this so its atleast visible with all the posts there;

I ran BF2 on my 20" monitor with all settings on high and with a 1024x786 resolution selected. So I saw that about 2 people said 1600x900 is native in the 1.5 patch so I downloaded it and installed it, WELL NOW BF2 DOESN"T WORK AT ALL!! whenever I click on the bf2 icon it shows me couple of black screens and it just turns off, and heres the big thing; if i have the cd 1 in the computer or not it does the same thing... shows couple of black screens and turns off. So basically if I don't have the cd in the computer it opens a full screen... goes black couple of times and bf2 just closes, same thing happens even if I have the cd in the computer. I'm running vista 64bit is that the problem? or is it my monitor that I'm running a 1600x900 resolution?

Lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

Sorry mate, wish I could help you out. Did you make a back up of your 1.4 BF2 folder? If not, then your stuck with Beta unless you reinstall. Changing ur registry file to say version 1.4 wont work in this instance if you didn't make a backup.

Do you have the game installed on any other computers? If so, copy that installation onto your current computer running 1.5, but before you do, change the Battlefield 2 folder name to Battlefield 2 1.5, then copy over your 1.4 Battlefield 2 folder (If you had it somewhere else) into the same EA Games folder.

email ur reply back asap

I can reinstall any time but my question is why isn't the game working on 1.5 beta?  What can I do to run it on 1.5? Now obivously i'm gonna have to run bf2 on 1.5 full when it comes out but if the beta isn't working then probably the full version wont work either

You do realize, if you run 1.5 Beta, there will be only like, 5-10 servers you can play on, right?

I think it would be less complicated to just reinstall 1.4 and change your target line on your BF2 shortcut icon to force the resolution of 1600x900 rather then to run 1.5 Beta. If you want more precise instructions on how to do that, just ask.

Also, installing the little known program called Widescreen Fixer is a great idea as well.

I would not recommend forcing the resolution because the command is crop to fit. It would take the highest resolution, blow it up to fit the 1600 then cut out some pixels to fit the 900.

So in the end, you are seeing less screen space you would normally see and the detail would be no different. However everything wouldn't be streched though.

Not exactly. If you look at screen shots of people forcing widescreen resolutions, you can usually see the mini-map is more oval shaped because its stretchy
