So after having my housemate and myselfs cards declined on the Easyjet website the other day, I got a call from my bank this morning to say someone had tried to buy 260 quids worth of women's clothing with it. My housemate's calling now to find out whether the same has happened to him. Thing is, I don't really know how it could have happened. I haven't bought anything of the internet in about 2 months, and I like to think I'm not stupid enough to fall for phishing scams. The only things I've used it for in the past weeks have been the Co-op, Tesco, and the occasional cash machine. I cover the num pad at cash machines, so it's not like someone could see them.

How did this happen, BF2s? I'm sure some of you lot are up to date on the latest card-fraud schemes.

The device itself consists of a pin-hole camera and a card reader.

The card reader is placed over the card slot on the targeted ATM to read the magnetically stored data from the card as it is inserted into the machine. The camera is mounted above the ATM's keypad, and records the victim entering their PIN.

After the skimmers have copied the data from the card and recorded the PIN, they can very easily duplicate the card and start drawing money from the victim's account."

If he covers his PIN properly it should be ok.

If he covers his PIN properly it should be ok.

They can be made to also cover the numpad so you press down on the device which looks like a normal atm, it then presses down on the numbers of the actual machine so you don't notice anything suspicious on the display screen.
