Ok now this may be kinda tricky because we are dealing with a cell phone here. I have a sound file that i would like as my ring tone (the codec noise from metal gear solid), but ive encountered a problem . The sound i want is under the sounds folder, and i need it under my ring tone folder. I have yet to find a way to do this and any help for a poor and deprived MGS fan would be appreciated. Are there any drivers i need to download or anything like that?... The file type is MP3.

-Thanks in advance.

Copy/paste should do it, unless I'm misunderstanding you.

edit: I fail.

As incredibly sad as this is...I have the codec ringtone too.

It's pretty discrete so everyone thinks it's a regular ring. And the only people who know otherwise realise it would be hypocritical to make fun

edit: does your phone have a function that lets you pick songs as a ringtone? most phones do so just hunt around for it in the menus

codec ringtone ftw! im glad im not the only one its possible i just uploaded it onto an online album, whatever that is, but its not under my music

I can picture somebody walking down the street and answering their phone and crouching, and the people around them issue a wierd stare.

A bit of googling has revealed that you need to get the mp3 on a different phone and sms it to yourself- then save it as a ringtone

Has your phone got a memory card in it? To get ringtones on my phone I normally just whip my mem card in a card reader, stick it in the pc, and drag and drop into the music folder on it. I then go to my files, select the tone and set as ringtone. Alternatively can you not go to profiles - edit profiles - select ringtone and do it from there?

I will have to dig up my card reader but it sounds like it could work. +1.

No worries mate, I just went and downloaded some funny sound bites from Superbad, and stuck them on the memory card in my phone via a reader, works fine.

It should be that easy for you as well.

Some phones are retarded they way they work. I had a similar problem. Got it sorted by bluetoothing it to a mates phone. Deleted off my phone, got him to blue tooth it back. When it accepts you can "make ringtone" as an option in the save menu. But no doubt your phone is retarded in other ways so it probably won't work.

Ok, so i just dug up my card reader last night and found 5 folders.

1. Media
2. Music
4. Picture
4. Flix (videos)
5. Sounds (<- this is where the file i want is)

So i took the Cocec and put it into the media folder, put the memory card back in my phone, and didnt see it under the ringtones. Next, i put it under the music, found the file there, but didnt see an option where i could set it as my ringtone. Finally, i got kinda frustrated and put it in ever folder, so that regardles of what i put it in, i should see it in the ringtone list... Now either im just a collosal dumbass or this method isnt working. But what i gathered from the last couple posts is i just need to text it to myself?... If i were to send the message it would still be attached as a "sound".
