Isn't Detroit well known for being America's cultural capital?
Actually, coincidentally enough, I'm going there on Tuesday.ghettoperson wrote:

And one of my goals in life is to live in a million different places. England is the first step.
You cant have guns or knives there, no sunshine, waves of ugly people and cameras everywhere. get me a one way ticket plz
So anyway, I'm pretty sure this thread was about helping me move, not trying to convince me not to.The A W S M F O X wrote:

I have no advice on how to achieve getting there/getting a job...but I would definitely say what your doing is a good idea, when I lacked inspiration and motivation to do well in life, I was lucky enough to venture across the pond, and it turned me around, I loved studying there, even though what I studied has no involvement in my life today, it's the experience that helped turn me around and achieve so many things thereafter.
Also when I got back to England, I saw it in a completely different light and enjoyed living there. Good luck if you do actually make it over.

That's kind of how I feel right now. It's almost as if I'm just kind of bored here, coasting through life with no real ambition to go out and better myself. I mean, I enjoy my days here, but I just feel as though I'm going through the motions.
I figure I'm still young enough to make a drastic change in my life and if it doesn't work out, it won't affect me negatively.
It could do, you might get raped.
I live in Chicago. I'm going to Detroit next week.ghettoperson wrote:

Is Chicago particularly bad for crime? It didn't seem it when I was there, but unless you go to the bad parts of town I guess you never really get a feel for that kind of stuff visiting.
The west side isn't exactly good...ghettoperson wrote:

As for the south side, there are places where I wouldn't walk down the street in broad daylight, even if I was surrounded by a police escort.
I know I'm younger than you at 17, but I really have to disagree. In this day and age, you should be planting your feet in the ground for a little while. Wait out the storm, so to speak. If you make a big slip up overseas, you need to have the sort of support system (whether it be family, friends, or both) that will help you cope. I mean that financially, mainly.notorious wrote:

"people in ny have a general idea of how to drive. one of the pedals goes forward the other one prevents you from dying"
If you never take risks in life it's going to suck big time.
I have thousands of dollars saved away in stocks and my family is pretty well off. I'm not too concerned about it.haffeysucks wrote:

Did you used to have hundreds of thousands saved away in stocks?
