Preferable Processor

I was wondering what processor would be preferable with a 9800 GT?
Playing mainly css, bf2, tf2, farcry 2 and maybe something else...
Thought so, too lazy, anyways:
I have no idea about the mobo, can't get the information from anywhere, I was anyways thinking of buying a new one, 3GB RAM, Win vista, 19 inch monitor(1440x900)
A pretty tight budget, maybe 100-300€
420W(+5V=28A, +12V1=14A, +12V2=15A, +3.3=30A, -5V=0.5A, -12V=0,8A, +5Vsb=2.0A)
Not rly any more information I can povide, processor is what i'm asking and the video card is up there

I've been impressed by the price:performance ratio for the 5200. Nice CPU there for next to no money. Provided you're not using it for video encoding or something (doesn't use some SSE instructions that are often heavily used by encoders).

an E8400 will do fine with every game, even GTA:IV (provided you have 3-4GB of RAM)

I can run everything w/ a stock E8400 and a 9800GT and get decent FPS on high/very high settings. (>40 in most games)

I agree with this. The E5200 is very cheap and after OCing gaming performance is nearly the same as a E8x00 series CPU.

Download that and it will tell you your motherboard. It's a vital piece of information for this, really... It's all fair and good saying "Get this Core 2 Duo" etc. but you might not be able to even support it.

Tight budget is the price range that benefits most from OC. Other one is high-end where you can get HW that won't hit the stores for long time by overclocking.

Agree with E5200. I have one, runs at 3.6 Ghz (From 2.5) on a really shit motherboard, so could easily go higher.

But if you can't/don't want to overclock, then go for E8400 or 8600 if you've got the cash.

or in the middle, where you can get midrange hardware to perform like enthusiast hardware. overclocking is just generally a very good idea.
