Well, most of them, yes. But I'll donate my time to the cause.Lucien wrote:
So because I haven't used a G15 for some arbitrary amount of time all the points I raised are invalid? Nice.Flaming_Maniac wrote:
So sayeth someone who practically hasn't used a G15.
Screen: I don't get distracted by it. Most of the time I use it to display music which can be handy when I've got my 50GB on shuffle, but not even that is for everyone. I agree that it's a bit gimmicky, it's not ideal to look at the screen for pertinent information but I enjoy it as a music display. Community developers make other programs so you may find a program useful if you look for it. I used to use the countdown timer to easily track my mining in eve, when I played.Lucien wrote:
Media keys are worse than on my €25 keyboard
Features? let's list em
Screen - it displays almost entirely useless information (I get to see my score in TF2! gee, if only my cheap keyboard had keys that I could bind the scoreboard to.) superior screenless alternatives exist. In my opinion extremely distracting when lit up, but to use it you then need to turn it back on again.
G keys - A handful of games I don't play might use them. For the rest it just lets you be slightly lazier.
A SWITCH TO TURN OFF THE WINDOWS KEY OH FUCK
backlit keys - it's like I really have a monitor shining on my keyboard!
2 months back my old keyboard broke and I had money to burn so I bought a G15. I bought it back two days later and got a standard logitech keyboard instead. Couldn't be happier
G Keys: So you don't use macros? Ok, but other people do. You not needing them for games you choose not to play does not invalidate the fact they're there for those who can very definitely take advantage of them.
Windows Key: Again, a bit gimmicky, but I remember a few glorious fuckups on account of people hitting the windows key. It's not extremely important, but it is useful.
Backlit Keys: Tons of keyboards have this, tons of people like it, I use it. The best time to recognize the power of a backlit key is at a LAN. Plus, my monitor is mounted higher; the light does not hit the keyboard.
As to an earlier post, ugly is subjective and overpriced it may be, but it's not grossly so and it is for a niche market.
Obviously, the board is not for you. That says nothing about the board, it says nothing about you, but it does say that your action of buying it because you had the money to was unwise. I have my gripes with this board, I'm looking in to some decent mechanical boards, but it has been solid enough to last me more then long enough to justify the investment. Point being, don't take me as a staunch defender of the board because I'll be the first to admit its faults, but I think your whining is bias and unhelpful.
