It does bring back some memories.  The earliest card I had was an old Nvidia 6 series.

My very first computer had S3 graphics.  It was equipped with an old Transmeta 100mhz cpu and 16mb of RAM.  Good times.  I could barely play Mechwarrior 2 with it.

After that I only owned ATi cards until the Nvidia 6 series.

I still Have my Nvidia GeForce 2 ti right next to me lol

I remember trying to play battle field Vietnam on it and an 800MHz AMD

I remember how a lot of my old hardware still works. It's the newer more sensitive stuff that breaks down.

Coal fired computers were more reliable.

Ah....

Brings back memories.

I used to play Quake on my Matrox Mystique. Played loads of Quake 3 on my Voodoo 3 3000, which I upgraded to the Voodoo 5 5000 as soon as it came out.

GT300 A1 sample specs:

512 MIMD cores
?GB 512bit GDDR5 at 4400MHz effective
dx11
700/1600/1100(4400)
core/shader/memory
better efficiency on the SP unit

name GTX 380

that would translate to 2.5x-3x GTX 280 performance

I stopped paying attention to graphics cards for like 4 months and now I'm lost as to what's good and what's not.

We've certainly come a long way.

that would translate to 2.5x-3x GTX 280 performance
I find 2.5 to 3 x preformace a bit far stretched, companies just don't step it up like that when they can give a 10-20% and charge just as much... maybe it will be different this time around though...

I'm gonna remain cautiously pessimistic about it thought, that way if it does happen agian, I'll be stoked, and if not it wont be a let down that I didnt get a 275...

ATi is gonna have there work cut out for them if they are going to compete but they might have that 1GHz core clock on there
