A 66-year-old woman with stage 4 pancreatic cancer became the first person to use Washington's assisted suicide law, a nonprofit organization announced Friday.

Compassion & Choices, an organization that says it advocates choice for the terminally ill, said Linda Fleming of Sequim, took her prescribed medication and died Thursday evening at home with her family, her dog and her physician.

She had been diagnosed a month ago with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and was told she was "actively dying," Compassion & Choices said in a written statement.

Well good for her. So does the government have a right to tell you, your aren't allowed to end your own life or you have a right to off yourself at any time? BTW what is the secret of soylent green?

I'm all for killing people.
But there are financial reasons in suspicious suicide cases which makes it undesirable for the government to allow. Euthanasia is another thing though.

I'm all for people being able to decide whether or not they die, but I believe we are judged on how we deal with whats handed to us in life, whether or not its good or bad... Of course I'm not suffering from stage 4 pancreatic cancer though.

As long as a proper legal framework is created for it, euthanasia should be allowed.
