running a laptop with celeron 400 and 128mb of ram...8 of that being shared for gfx.

wanting to run browser that will work with every site as currently only firefox 1 works, and facebook doesnt and autotrader and pistonheads are very slow!!!!!

I looked at xubuntu but even thats not ideal for the amount of ram i have. currently on 98se.

can anyone suggest be something faster please ? need a gui / windows clone as i cba with cli, only 2 days till a new power lead comes for the other lappy which has celeron 2.8ghz and 512mb of ram lol!

Puppy Linux.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

You've got to be kidding me. By the time you're done dicking around with a new OS, your other laptop will be up and running. Stick with 98SE.

Windows 98SE is fine, but for shits and giggles MS-DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 could be combined.

I'd stick with a fresh install of Windows 98.

win 98 should run just fine...i found win 2000 slower than 98 (long time ago on p3 1ghz and 128Mb ram)
loading flash web pages will make your pc hang...for a while...with that processor and ram.
I dont suggest trying win 2000...its slow and it has 4  service packs :S
