I know theres this repair function. But does it wipe away my installed programs as well? Registry wise.

Repair does just that, repairs the existing OS.

What's happening with your PC? BSOD on boot?

repair function does not wipe anything, it just reinstalls Windows components, programs stay installed

Explorer occasionally hanging. Autorun not working due to a virus a few months ago.

Try start-->run-->cmd <Hit Enter>
Type SFC /SCANNOW <Hit Enter>

Try that and let me know what it finds

Make sure to run as Admin or it'll tell you to fuck off.

Okay ran it. After a long time of scanning,it closed by itself with no message whatsoever.

Check your log files. CBS log I think.

Hmm CBS log? Where do i find it?

Edit: Nothing shows up in C:/Windows/Logs though. Except a directX text file.

The magic happens behind the curtain....  Let us know if you still have issues.

You might want to run a

chkdsk c: /f

as well...

Alright ran it and this sucks. I booted up and right clicked on a file on my desktop. The whole explorer process just hung on me. Really really frustrated. Had to end the process and remake an explorer.exe task again. Do i really have to do an OS repair?
