the dye is injected into stem cells and dna from the early stages of life. when the animals grow up, you can see which stem cells have developed with the dye so you know what genes you just fucked with

Good luck finding the genes that develop into wings without first finding the switch to turn on or off in the winged animal which you first find from injecting dye into the winged animal and producing glow in the dark wings that affect nothing else but the wings and then replacing the gene sequence in the non winged animal with genes from the winged animal that doesn't affect the development of the non winged animal in any other way other than producing wings, dimwit.
