Religious fanaticism: Pretty sure there aren't 72 virgins waiting for the IRA martyrs in the afterlife.
Larger numbers: Ireland is a small recruiting pool, compared to the entire population of underemployed middle eastern teenage males.
More reasons to die: Irish have decent beer, cute women, and a functioning economy - Hajii's got sand in the asscrack, women walking around in Glad-trashbags, no beer, miserable hot climate, and massive underemployment of hotblooded impressionable bored teenage males.

Then again...
The Irish have alot more friends-with-firepower than Hajii.
Start screwing with the world supply of Guinness, and the USA, Canada, & Europe would have to come in on the side of the Irish.

lolwut I just got done watching this episode (nothing else was on tv ). Note that it was a 5 on 5 battle they simulated. I think on a large scale (i.e. all-out WAR) Taliban would win, but in squad stuff, IRA definitely deserved the win.

No one would win. 2 Guerrilla army's have never fought openly because its impossible. Northern Ireland contains guerrilla army's on both sides and in 50 odd years they never openly fought each other. In fact their was actual collusion on some matters between the IRA and UDA.
