Stuck in XP theme

For some reason my computer has turned from this to this.

The right option is ticked here.

The problem started after playing around with the ease of access tools. Namely the high contrast one. But I have since disabled all of them, the problem is still here.

Right-click on desktop, Personalize, click 'Theme'.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Probably just some random error. Or something crashed and then didn't start properly again. Or something like that.

Sometimes just switching to 'classic', then back to 'xp' works too.

Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it

Since when is that "XP" theme? S'more like 2000 Theme, which is really tweaked '95 Theme.

prolly happened because you deleted/moved the file after you applied the theme or didn't put it in the right directory windows/ressources/themes blah.

But I didn't change any theme. Did it by itself.

He has Vista. SP3 is for XP.

On topic,

Control Panel -> System -> Advanced system settings -> Performance Settings -> Adjust for best appearance -> Ok

Try that.
