Fuck these stupid unaware people, they should get shot or something....
Haha, my dad got called to an incident like that once, he couldn't stop laughing at the woman.

Perhaps I should sue my school though for that time I cut myself when the saw blade slipped off the wood

Oh yeah, she totally deserves at least 75k for that...
If you had any idea the amount of money that circulates in this world... I think its just and fair to give a common citizen $75,000 for being scolded and burned. Especially when you consider all the bailout's and other money hand outs that have been going around for corporate figure heads that already get paid millions of dollars a year. I don't think roll eyes are needed here to convey my point.

I mean, if only she had eyes or common sense to notice that a lid wasn't on tight, but seeing that nobody has to take repsonsibilty for their actions these days, this was clearly unavoidable....
I've ordered coffee and lattes and always look at the lid and check it, and still sometimes it'll spill on me. It's a case where the lid can look, and feel like its on but its not.

Oh, and lastly, there is no possible way she is lying and trying to scam her way into money, because everyone on earth tells the truth at all times.....
Innocent until proven guilty. Brings me back to my first point though, people scam and cheat all the time, its apparently the way of life in the modern age. Sad to think about it. Maybe thats why I'm not very successful. I should try this scamming and cheating thing I guess? But, if she is lying and cheating to make money, shame on her. If not, then she deserves compensation. You can't agree with that?

@McDonalds incident: http://lawandhelp.com/q298-2.htm

@article-Women is smart for sueing Starbucks. The bill will be passed on to the customers and considering the fact that they're willing to pay 3x as much as regular coffe I'm sure they won't stop buying if the price increases.

And you would think that all the Starbucks haters would love this.

She only deserves compensation if the lid design is shown to be faulty. And even then just to cover medical costs. Non of this "emotional damage" crap. And if she's permanently scared something to cover that.

But once again, she only deserves anything if the lid design is faulty. Otherwise its a case of he said she said and she loses.

Seriously, hot coffee not hot enough to disfigure or traumatize you. You get a blister and it goes away, unless you pop it. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts use to have horrible coffee lids...the lids did not come with a cover and their coffee would scald me all the time when I hit a bump while driving.

I should sue Johnson and Johnson for making band-aids with strong adhesive...the pain I feel when I have to rip one from my hairy arm it is unbearable....lemme go change my manpon /sobs

loubot, although you have a point.... you are wrong about that. What if you spilled hot coffee on your face (how is beyond me) and had a huge burn on your face?

oh and some places brew their coffee hotter than others, so a  blister maybe is the least that can happen....

Should drink iced coffee if you are driving about and want a coffee anyway.

I can't answer that because it is beyond me too. The closest thing is my tongue but I don't blame the vendor from my impatience.

Do you idiots even read a tenth of the article posted? Blademaster even put the important part in BOLD. Lets try it again:

when a worker at a Midland County Starbucks Coffee outlet improperly secured a lid on a large cup of coffee...
When ordering through a drive through, I'm pretty sure its the employee's job to fasten lids properly.
Have YOU even read one letter of my post you quoted? I never doubted who's fault is was or whether there even was coffee spilled or not. I merely said the coffee spilled could not have caused trauma as severe as claimed by the women.

Yes it is quite striking actually. How on earth would those scars, if they existed, be visible for extereme humiliation? Most women I know, even those wo drink and spill coffee, usually cover their groin with lingerie and jeans or a skirt.

If I were the judge in this case, I'd order the employee to attend additional lid-sealing training and also order him to pay for the drycleaning bill.

Then I'd slap a 500 $ fine on the plaintiff for wasting my fucking time.

I've spilled coffee on my hand from a lid that popped off as I tipped it to take a sip, got scabs but no scars. I didn't sue anyone but it doesn't make me a stupid retard for getting burned.

I once burned the entire inside of my mouth no it was my fault for doingitr so I had to live with it whilst the skin healed for a month I dont understand why if you spill a hot drink on yourself you have to sue its just retarded.
Dear God please let my karma one day reach 100, whether it be tomorrow or 1000 years in the future i want it to happen.

If I was the judge or lawyer I would go to said store, buy said drink then look for the "Caution liquid might be hot".
Exhibit "A"
Give the woman an eye exam and when passed, have documented proof she could have read it.
Look through her credit and banking history to see if there was really a need for "compensation"

Lawyer to Starbucks- Do you print a warning on cups or other containers?
Starbucks - Yes, and on those Eco-friendly sleeves as well.
Lawyer - So you would mostly use a sleeve because?
Starbucks - Most of our drinks are far to hot to hold the uninsulated cup without some sort of insulator.
Lawyer - So your honor, here is exhibit "B" Her used coffee cup from Starbucks, intact with "Caution contents might be hot" printer on the side but also with a Eco-friendly insulation sleeve with "Caution, contents might be hot". Therefor the plaintiff is plainly a stupid money grubbing bitch who is trying to make a fast buck.
Judge - Throw her ass in prison!

Semi-off-topic:

When working at the Drive-Thru, I properly secured a lid to a drink but when the dumbass grabbed it he held his hand too high and slammed the drink on the upper part of the door, causing most of the drink to spill on him. Wasn't hot, though.

On-topic:

Accidents happen, bitch needs to get over it. If her injuries were serious and she was hospitalized, then I could see a lawsuit. Otherwise Starbucks could just pay for her dry-cleaning of the clothes she was wearing.

It's bad enough that the person suing is that fucking stupid, but how is the judge that fucking stupid?

Honestly... our justice system is fucked.
