Why do so many attention whores post illegal behavior on YouTube? It really confirms most humans don't use their brains and have no good sense.
This example is the last few minutes a few friends are out on a "joy ride".
Kids DONT try this SRS, FFS!

Young driver caught on video going 160 mph on U.S. 151

Incident ends with crash, but no injuries

Bill Novak  —  6/03/2009 5:10 am

Young drivers and fast cars are proving to be a disturbing and sometimes deadly combination on Dane County highways.

Three young people died in recent weeks on area roads and city streets, in part because of excessive speed.

Andrea Garcia, a 19-year-old Madison woman who was a passenger in a car that lost control on U.S. 51 near McFarland on May 15, died after being thrown from the car.

Michael Castle, an 18-year-old New Glarus man, died early Saturday morning after losing control of his car on Wisconsin 69.

A third fatal crash was perhaps the slowest of the three, but still involved a fast-moving car that went out of control.

A 14-year-old girl, Dionna Cook, was killed and two other teen girls were critically injured when the 15-year-old unlicensed driver of the stolen car they were in lost control and crashed on the city's east side Friday night.

The most glaring example of high speed on our highways came in April, when a 17-year-old teen pushed the speedometer needle almost up to 160 mph in an Audi S4 while taking a joyride on U.S. 151 near Verona.

The unidentified teen had two others in the car; one videotaped the speedometer as it climbed, with the video ending shortly before the car crashed.

Amazingly, no one was injured in the crash.

The video from inside the Audi S4 was posted on YouTube:

Because of the YouTube posting, police were able to bring additional charges against the driver instead of just the "imprudent speed" citation originally issued to him in April. His license was suspended and he was fined more than $1,000. Thats it!? /facepalm

Other speeders also have walked away from their hijinks.

Last week, a Dane County traffic team deputy stopped an 18-year-old male from Stoughton for excessive speed. He was driving 120 mph in a 65 mph zone, on U.S. 14 in Fitchburg.

The driver had a young female passenger. Both were wearing seatbelts, but when speeds are that high, seatbelts might not prevent death.

"Seatbelts or not, at those speeds some crashes are not survivable," said Dane County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Elise Schaffer.

Another deputy stopped a driver for speeding in Sun Prairie, doing 115 mph in a 55 mph zone.

"These extreme speeds put not only the occupants of those vehicles at high risk, but anyone who may encounter them on the roadway is a potential target," Schaffer said.

Last year, there were 27,311 speed-related crashes on state highways, according to statistics maintained by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Those crashes caused 187 fatalities and 11,223 injuries.

"This is why we make traffic education and enforcement a high priority," Schaffer said. "It saves lives."

I understand your amusement. Driver Education in the US IS a joke! I wish I was the DOT Secretary. I would set up policies that mirror EU/ Japanese driver guidelines. For example, Drivers drive in the cruising lane, you only pass on the left, and move the fuck over for faster approaching vehicles. (Flash to pass).

Fact: #1 cause of accidents is slow drivers!
Fact: #2 cause of accidents is from NOT yielding to oncoming cars.

Dont  get me wrong, I love to speed and I have paid my attorney 1,000s of dollars to keep my driving record clear. I know my limits and more importantly my cars limits.

OT, stupid people kill, themselves, wish I wasnt so antipathetic, but thats just one less person I have to watch out for.

Yeah, that's fair enough. The amount of people that get caught by posting stuff on the internet is hilarious. I remember there was one guy who crashed his car, walked away but posted photos on the net where he wrote that he was speeding and wasn't wearing a seatbelt. Got a big ol' fine for that one, possibly some jail time too.

Cause of most accidents is 'driver error'.

Going faster just makes those accidents more dangerous, but is unlikely to be the cause.

What a pathetic punishment. He could have killed dozens and gets a fine and suspended licence? He's lucky he isn't doing time in prison or dead.

I hate this arguement. Yes, you can always argue that you shouldn't be speeding to begin with but speeding =/= accidents. Do you legitimately think that going 80 makes you incredibly dangerous? If you can't drive on an open highway going 80 without any problems, you probably shouldn't be driving because you just suck. Now, if you're going 80 in the left lane on a mostly empty highway and there are two cars ahead in the right lane, you keep driving assuming you'll pass them. If the person closer to you decides to change lanes to get around the slower car in front of him, all of a sudden you're fucked. It's not that speeding is dangerous, it's people that cut speeders off that are dangerous... In all honesty, if you see someone speeding behind you, your safest bet is to just hold your line because chances are they already have a plan to weave in and out of a few cars. If you change lanes, you'll fuck up their plan and it'll be so much more dangerous.

edit - And back on topic, I'll never understand why people post this kind of stuff on youtube. I've seen people just speeding on the highway recording their spedometer and then posting it online with no crash to show how fast they are. Then they post it online, cops track your IP and then they send you a ticket. Not to mention the serious crimes like vandalism where people still post that online, people seriously don't understand how to commit crimes anymore.

Don't speed and you'll be safe from the 'idiots' who observe the speed limit.
Driving slowly doesn't 'cause accidents', especially if 'driving slowly' means observing the speed limit.
If you're driving fast along a road and come across a slow car and this causes you to have an 'accident' then its your fault, not theirs.

If someone is driving on the speed limit, they shouldn't need to be looking over their shoulder for people who are exceeding the limit by a gross amount. They will see people approaching from behind at a few mph over the limit, not much more.
Speeding on a road with a clearly defined limit is dangerous for this reason, unless you have flashing lights and a siren.

Speed makes accidents more severe than they would otherwise be, and greatly extends braking distances - making accidents more likely.

I've never really understood speeding. Its just a number on a dial, doesn't make much difference to journey time unless you're travelling hundreds of miles cross country and its not as if most people are so important that shaving a few seconds off their daily drive is going to make a difference to the rest of their day - although their egos might tell them different.

If you speed for 'fun' go to a racetrack.

Under the correct conditions, speeding is perfectly safe. The speed limit should be a variable, based on road conditions, the weather and how busy the roads are. I drive to Switzerland a couple of times a year through Germany, and a lot of the way we often do 150MPH in perfect safety. If the weather is bad, or the traffic is bad, obviously we drive a lot slower.

Speeding is fine, its the often sudden stop which causes the problems.
Any fool can drive in a straight line at 150mph with no other traffic around.
OTOH a supposed expert like Frank Williams can fuck up on a straight road in clear conditions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Williams

Would you do 150MPH in the dark?

Probably not, depends on how well lit up the road is really.

EDIT: Also, if it's dark, you're usually going to be tired. That said, when we drive down it's always during the day, so that's not an issue.

Let's face it, in a regular traffic situation, you can bring the needle to 100+ but you can only keep it there for a couple of seconds before you start hitting heavier traffic. How much faster is that really going to get you to your destination and is it worth it? Probably not...so I've concluded that people who periodically push the needle too far is compensating for their tiny penises. There I said it!
