So, I don't really care for either of the above bands, but I can't truly say they suck without listening to a variety of their music. Recommend me some of the best songs for a thorough evaluation. The only things that I know I've heard from them are "Stairway to Heaven" and "Rock and Roll".

Oh geez. Too many PF songs to recommend. But with Pink Floyd, you can't really listen to a few songs here and there. They're such a great band because of how cohesive their albums are, and what works of art they are. I know it might not sound like something you're interested in, but you really need to sit down and listen to an album all the way through (something current generations have a hard time doing).

Listen to each of the following, straight through and with no distractions:
Dark Side of the Moon
Wish You Were Here
Animals
The Wall

I'm not really a huge fan on some of their earlier stuff. But from Meddle there are two really good songs I like: "One of These Days", and "Echoes".

Pink Floyd:
Welcome to the Machine (Blast this song if you have a wicked subwoofer and your room will vibrate)
The Wall
Dark Side of the Moon
Wish You Were Here

Zeppelin:
Fool in the Rain
Kashmir (I personally hate this song but you might like it)

as far as Led Zep goes they have a pretty crazy mix of stuff.      My favorite Zep album is Physical Grafitti.  I think that is thier best to encompass the range and style of songs they have done.

Ok, while I am not a huge fan of either of these two bands, I would recommend:

Pink Floyd - Have a cigar, Wish you were here, and Hey you

Led Zepplin - Over the hills and far away, The ocean, and Ramble on

If you already do not care for these bands, it is very likely that none of these tracks will impress you.  However, I would say these are solid, noob friendly songs... and probably my personal favorites from these geezer bands.

for Led Zeppelin i'd say

Both of these bands pioneered AOR, album oriented radio. singles were lifted from the album, and for those tracks mentioned above, were good enough to stand on thier own. if you decide you like either band, listen the whole album through. it's how they were meant to be heard.

fucking itunes is ruining music.

I really don't like celebrity gossip, and could care less if some celeb that I didn't personally know died. But when Rick Wright died, I felt a bit sad

Comfortably numb... a masterpiece

another brick in the wall...

and the movie "The Wall"

Darkside of the Moon album and the movie The Wizard of Oz ... pretty cool to listen to the album(cd) and watch the movie with no sound...

I don't listen to PF that much, I don't really like them.  But as for Led Zep starters, just pick up the Mothership (Remastered) album.  ALL of those songs are golden.

oh and P.S., Stairway to Heaven and Rock and Roll are both Zeppelin songs.
