What's the best way to make "old house" smell go away?

As some of you may know, I'm moving this summer. It's a nice bigger house and all, but my bedroom has that horrible "old house" smell of too many parties, old wallpaper and cat piss. As I won't have lots of stuff in here, I fear that my stuff will catch this smell instead of the room catching its smell.

So, what can I do to make the smell go away without tearing the place down?

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Get new carpets and curtains, or at least clean them with something industrial-strength. Redo the wallpaper/paint. Keep all the windows open for like a week. Febreeze the shit out of everything. Check in the spaces and cavities for mould etc.

Remove anything from the walls and then paint them. My advice to you. Then leave the windows open for a while to let everything air out. Incense wouldn't be a bad idea, either, after you air it out.

And scrub down walls and so forth. When we moved to this house it was crazy old smelling. Thorough cleaning + painting fixed it right up. Also, carpet + curtains should be replaced/ be gotten rid of.
