Well lately i've been doing some thinking about what career i want to pursue.

Here's my list, i would like to hear oppinions about any real life experience working as or with any of the following.

Medical careers that interest me:

Paramedic (starting as EMT)
Nurse (no homo they get paid good - mad overtime too).
Psycologist (Not a realistic career for me though, too much school, too much money)

Tech careers that interest me:

Systems Analyst
Security systems/installation
Im open to any other computer jobs too to be honest. I like it.

Dark Lord of the Sith is a pretty good career. /geek joke

If you are not in college yet take a year as undecided and wait till you figure out what you really want to be.

I thought you wanted to be a philosopher as a full-time job, Mitch?

My aunt is one of the top managerial nurses in the NHS (our state health-system), but she worked up from a pretty average position. If you're considering it, prepare for lots of hard-graft, lots of jobs and tasks that normally either revolve around the disgusting or the mundane, and not a lot of respect or pay for it in comparison with other medical staff!

Dentist.

You're your own boss.
Assistants to help you.
Work 4 days a week and still make $200,000+ a year once you're established.

One of my friends in town is a forensic psychologist.  He's brought in to figure out whether the guy who murdered someone was crazy.

It's not as depressing as it sounds...He's got a very interesting job and never has to where a suit (unless he's testifying).

There's a whole lot of stuff in the fields you mentioned that aren't "traditional"...but you got to work the traditional before you get something a little more specialized.

I am a orthopaedic trauma nurse and can say that Uzique pretty much sums up the job in the above post. Sure the job is dynamic but you spend your days getting crapped on (literally in some cases) for rather little recognition, plus I have been stabbed twice. Not that stabbing is a daily occurence I just work in public health system so it tends to be more frequent.  Btw what do american nurses get paid PA cause I get fuck all.

To conclude I feel paramedic would be the go.

I'm in med school and I can honestly say, go be a dentist. They get better pay, better hours and an all round easier time than any medical staff ever will. The job satisfaction may not be quite as awesome but I never had you down as the uber altruistic type anyway mitch

Everyone suggesting dentist kinda missed a detail in his first post, methinks...

Mitch thinks that becoming a psychologist would involve "too much college and money". Dentistry and all the other specialised medical professions require a) tons of higher-education, b) tons of funds for said education and c) a competitive and distinguishing edge. If psychology isn't for him, dentistry is suicide.

You've been stabbed? Twice?! Do all the nurses get such treatment, or are you just really unlucky?

Excellent money tbh.

Most philosophers were pretty rich during the middle ages/Renaissance so they must make a lot of money eh.

Right?

Right guys?

oh missed that bit of the OP lol.

Then out of those mitch paramedic is a nice job. You get to really think on your feet and it can be very rewarding. But if hard work doesn't really appeal to you then I would go for one of the IT posts (no offence to the hordes of IT guys on bf2s), as working silly hours and crazy overtime will be the norm (the appeal of OT pay diminishes when you're so tired you're worried they'll have to cart you off soon).
