It wont come up on the homepage.
Simply because every click that is achieved from here, counts for basically nothing. When a user clicks from here, deviantArt knows that the user has been referred from these forums (i.e an external site) and therefore it doesn't count for popularity because the users are not finding it on their own in deviantArt and looking at it.
If users went onto the site individually and searched for your piece of work and then clicked on it to view it, then it might work better. Also, it works on a unique IP system, so all the views that you guys are achieving by the repeating process count for basically nothing as well.
