has this drastically improved later ?

Im ready to pull the trigger on either a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4890 Atomic 1GB GDDR5 PCI-Express OR Asus GeForce GTX 285 1024MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) but not overly sure which. I do alot of folding in my spare time and like to keep up with Max etc as best i can, haha

Also will the ati run all the current games maxed out at 1920x1080 apart from crysis obviously ?

4890 will definately run stuff like CoD4, Fallout 3, etc maxed out at that res, but Crysis would be pushing it.

Not sure about folding, though.

Folding is relatively less efficient on ATI cards. A 4890 would probably be touching the performance of a 9600GT, maybe 8800GT in folding.

My HD4870 will do about 3.5 kppd and needs a whole CPU core to run. A GTX285 should do 8 kppd and won't really need any CPU.

GTX275 = HD4890. GTX285 should be a bit faster
