This is just a rhetorical questions of sorts/a rant; but does anyone know why people get so pissed off at a comment left to them remarking on something idiotic, racist, and down-right stupid they said?

Something like: "If you are ever in Va... look me up and try and make me shutup... until then fuck off you internet pussy." Or "I am so glad i upset you... and the offer stands... look me up and make me shut up in real life... or stay in cali and suck a dick...
i will not respond to anymore of your kiddie shit... "

Now out of respect I won't post the person's name and I doubt anyone would guess correctly, but I was simply curious why people fly off after a comment was left, with the commenter's name to take full credit.

I'll even post the subject and remark in question:

Seriously? Just shut the fuck up ____Name____. You make yourself look and an ignorant fool. -Panther

I won't put up the actual post, but it included racism, bigotry, immaturity, prejudice, new-waving/jumping on the band-wagon and plain moronic responses.

Btw, who ever the poster may be, please don't retaliate here. Just making sure you don't make your case worse. If anyone wants to flame me for it, go ahead.

The only time I get irritated is when people either misquote or make false assumption. Even then it never exceeds minor annoyance. It's the internet and people need to realize that blockquotes and insults aren't going to change anything. These "debates" aren't really debates at all. They only serve to get people more entrenched in the opinion they had in the first place. So just expect that and chill.

I just find it funny when someone thinks or claims you are insanely pissed off or upset when I'm laughing my ass off at their 6th grade "make me", "No you're stupid", "Shut up cunt", or "dick" responses. Especially when all you do is point out something they said.

That's usually a misconception in the emotionless world of chat. There are no facial expressions and no body language, just the face value of pure text which throws all intended meaning out of the window.

You and me both. I would like to use some words to express a point/get a point across and those words are more...repugnant than others, but it often comes off as 'angry' or 'upset'.

No, it was actually an attempt to get you to respond by insulting me, so that I could disect, breakdown, review and dismiss it for the original poster. Sadly you did not fall into my trap and I have failed.

But in failure, or perhaps defeat, I gain a sense of surprising self satisfaction from the unexpected emotion. This humiliation has shown me a flaw in my methods, which will be corrected never to happen again.
