The high school textbooks would probably teach it as such.

But no, he was leading a rebellion that the US government wished to succeed so they aided him. After the government realized he turned into quite the little dictator, they unsuccessfully tried to take him out of power with the Bay of Pigs and multiple, multiple assassination attempts.

I could have sworn the President of Cuba was a U.S. ally and the U.S. had a good amount of money invested there. Where exactly do you get the CIA helped him thing from?
