It hasn't ever been proven that eye-witness accounts are totally unreliable, because that simply isn't true. They aren't anything like 100% reliable, but they are certainly very helpful in general, which is why they are so widely used as evidence in court cases alongside, and in the absence of, other evidence.
Yet you prefer your assumptions, despite the fact you know nothing about the people involved, the area they were in, the local emergency services procedures or any other useful information on which you could make any sort of reasoned judgement?
Doesn't seem a very sound way of getting an accurate picture of the world.
