He meant that during the round the commander is never in 1st place... after 2x it is very possible to get gold.
bingobones, Im not a noob. I respect you and I expect same from your side. thx.bingobones wrote:

wtf? i am only offering correct advice / information to these newbies....
you do not get a point for a team member kiling an enemy after i spot them....as i said earlier....when that team member kills an enemy or two his score goes up and therefore the teams average goes up which will probably mean you as commander will get 1 or 2 points added to ur total...same goes for heals, revives, flag captures etc etc
my thoughts: a lot of people of these forums are just so adamant they are correct...welll sometimes i admit i am wrong - but most of the time when it comes to bf2 stuff i am correct....
i am correct in this instance so stop arguing with me and thank me for my correct information...
oh and i nearly forgot...if u revive for example, while commander it will show up as a revive in ur stats pages but u do not get ur 2 revive points in game as commander - same goes for flags, ammo, heal, revive, driver, repair, kills etc etc etc etcMy 160+ hours of commander says that these two gentlemen are correct.banksd1983 wrote:

I have Expert Command. While that doesnt mean anything (besides that I sat in ground defense for longer than i can imagine), I think I know what got me points and what didn't.
HERE'S WHAT GOT ME POINTS IN MY 91 HOURS AS COMMANDER:
nothing.
you DON'T get points for spotting things, you DON'T get points for doing things
you get the AVERAGE of your team's points as an army - CORRECT
Ever wonder why your commander isn't ever in first place? You can always find their commander as well if you look at the points, he's always in the middle somewhere with a score of _ with zero or one kill and maybe a death.
Being right doesn't give the right to be an ass.
More so than being wrong.
Here we go again: no writing, just a quotation, maybe this can help you

OMFG, not again, just another post of Tyferra and his false information. *getting somehow angry* Maybe you should play as commander a little bit more...Tyferra wrote:
For Commander points, drop supplies. If people use them, (friendlies,) you get points. Also, order a squad to attack a point. If they capture it, you get rewarded. Same goes for defence. If a squad member you have ordered to defend a point gets a "Flag defend" you get rewarded. Same with ordering repairs, or demolitions. They do something you tell them to do, and you're sweet.
Artillery kills used to count too didn't they?
I think this guy explained it better than I could, so I'll quote him:...and...SysTray wrote:
Commander points is an average of your team's score basically. Artillery counts for global kills and combat points but not global points, this is the reason that your commander, teamwork, and combat score don't equal your global score. You can get "Kills In a round" requirements from artillery alone.
You get a percentage of every score your team makes as commander. If BobJoe7 kills someone and there are 17 total people on your team you get 2/17 (0.11) points). The decimals don't show up, but they are there. Once you hit a whole number, that number shows as your score.
The division is based on how many people on your team are alive at the time of the point scored though. When BobJoe7 killed another guy, all 17 members of your team weren't alive, so it is divided by the number that were alive. 2/13=0.15 points.
At the end of the round if you are still commander and your team wins, your score is doubled. These extra points don't count toward awards like the War College Ribbon (notice the "Before 2x"), but you still get them. Cool, huh? If you had 36 it would double to 72. But if you had some weird decimal again it may "double" to 73. You may have had 36.67 points before the win.
If you teamkill as commander, the points you lose still double. If you had 23 commander points, and lost 4 due to a teamkill, it would show as 19. If the round finished right after that, your points would "double" to 42.
You still have 23 commander points, which got doubled to 46, then you lost the 4 for the teamkill. Thus leaving you with 42.Btw, thats not only his opinion:Mike<Eagle23> wrote:
Global score = Combat score + Team score + Commander score - Combat score as commander (nobody knows how many points) - Team score as commander
(e.g. you are commander while using the support class and give ammo to someone else. You'll get a point for resupplies, but this score does not count as global score...)SysTray wrote:

That comment wasn't based of false information, it was based on no information. When was that though, must have been ages ago.
I had about three hours at that stage, so Mike was right. I don't like being commander anyway.
Commander score = average of teams score with some alterations for people who join part way through - i.e you don't loose commander points unless you teamkill someone with something other than artillery. I'm pretty sure that's not based on false information, I'm a tad older and wiser now.

So if it's based on average of your team then I suppose you want everyones score on your team to be well, around the average to get your gold medal as commander. Interesting. I still hate commanding. It's too boring.
yes! exactly!Ajax_the_Great1 wrote:

Oh, well, I needed some time to find this post again, so I did not waste more time to read it again...Tyferra wrote:

It was not my intention to recharge Tyferra
Ok, I'm glad that he is not a follower of the dark side of the "How-to-get-commander-points"-belief any more. So go on and deliver the message to the people, brother.

e.g, for those who dont get it.The commander points are every point earned by a member of your team during your reign as commander divided by the total of living team members at the given time.
Bob gets 2 points killing an enemy. When he does, 10 of my team are alive. Therefore, I get 0.2 commander points.
Geez, this is by far the most popular thread I've created thus far. So to recap:
Commander gets a point for spotting an enemy if it's killed within a few seconds = FALSE
Points for dropping supplies, resupplying with a drop, using UAV, scan or Artillery = FALSE
Points for kills (even with small arms) = FALSE, but kills still count in stats
Points for teamwork actions (revives, flag caps) = FALSE, but still count in stats
Points for other team members' actions = TRUE, equal to number of points earned divided by total living team members at the time
Hopefully this is correct?

lol, im gunnery an got my basic an vet in the same game. not hard man, just don run out an act like a soldier. yeah kill guys when they get 2 close to capping a flag, but dont look 4 a fight. just let ur team do that, support them is ur primary goal
When I play as commander, I typically get 60+ points every single round BEFORE doubling.banksd1983 wrote:

I only command on Sharqi, Kubra, and one other map that escapes me, currently, because someone of higher rank always gets there first on all other maps for some reason. All of my best rounds save one (the highest being 130-odd as the MEC on Sharqi, only recently bested when I was a medic on a low-population server and got 147 yay heh) have been achieved as commander.
Really, in practicallity, you do get points for spotting - but indirectly. Spot the enemy and your team gets more kills. It's as simple as that - because they know where the enemy are and which way they're facing. This allows utmost sneakyness, which is always preferable!
And:
The commander score is worked out by the total number of team points divided by the total number of living team members at any given time.
Yes, correct. The idea is, using your commander tools will get your team more points.[QXJZ]Capt_Kefra wrote:

Now, the question is, do you get (e.g) a fraction of your own points while commanding?
