Alright, here's the deal. I have a spare server, 3GHz P4/HT, 2GiB of RAM (IIRC) that I slapped Debian on and put in a rack. Now it's sitting idle, with a 1Gbps connection to the Internet, eager to get to work, but I don't know what to put on it. The best suggestion that does not involve copyright infringement is what I'll go with.

I think you should run some game servers off of it and make some money doing it. Why not? Perhaps maybe even do a web hosting and domain registering service and see what that gets you.

Folding/SETI, but that would be a waste of performance, especially for that gigabit line. You'd need some better hardware to throw in a 24/7 machine if you want to make a decent use of that.

What I would do is run a Web/FTP/Ventrilo server for personal use and you ought to have enough bandwidth left over (if you mean a dedicated gigabit connection) to run some hosting for others.

You sure you have Gigabit Internet, and not just the internal network?

Just checkin. But Game/VoiP/Web hosting FTW. Possibly pull a bit of a profit hosting for others.
