And yes, TN panels are shitty; that's well known. Hardly an excuse to remove a quarter of the screen.
That's what I keep saying.

But everyone keeps going on about how they love their cheap Samsungs - virtually all of which are crappy TN panels. Why does no one invest in a proper monitor? It's what you'll be looking at the whole time you use your PC, so get a good one.
Well, let's see.

I wanted real estate. I play video games. I watch movies, but I don't foolishly try to use my desktop monitor as a living room television. I do a bit of photoshop/vegas work but nothing professional. I'm not out of high school; I don't have a 60k+ income. If any of my needs, needs that parallel many of the people on this board, say "Get a S-IPS panel you fool!" then I'll stop recommending Samsungs. Until then, I'm sitting pretty with my 2443.

Not S-IPS. But VA based.

S-IPS isn't practical and the panels are usually a bit sluggish for gaming. But there is no real reason not to get a VA based panel. You can get them for almost the same price.

Most of these Samsungs are at the higher end of the TN panel market. But even something from the lower end of the modern VA market is typically better. I'd rather get a 20" VA panel than a 24" TN one.

Everyone should go out and buy VA based panels. For a good 24" TN panel you're looking at £200-300 (or more, a really high end TN panel like the G24 or something is about £350 - barely any less than a nice 2408WFP), for a good VA panel maybe £300-400. It's more, but worth every penny.

Sorry but these 2 statement quite contradict each other.  Almost the same price and £100 more (Around $150ish by my quick google conversion) aren't the same to every one.  I'm not saying it's a waste of money to go buy the more expensive VA based panel, but it's just not worth it to everyone.

And you even made the point how everyone keeps going on how they love their cheap Samsung's so they must not be as bad as you make them out to be.
