Win 7 is great, have had no issues, except I cant play BF2 or AIX online. I have updated pnkbstr manually and with pbsetup.
Before I was running Win XP Pro 32bit for years and I have uninstalled and reinstalled BF2 more times than i care to admit , but Im confident I know what has worked in the past... that said Im stuck and need some ideas, pa leaze!

I have created inbound and outbound rules in Win Firewall for PnkBstrA.exe however thats why i keep getting kicked, saying communication error. Please advise thanks!

Cheers!

Damn, I know I had some issues getting it to work, but I can't for the life of me think what I had to change. If it makes you feel any better though, I've got it working on Win7 now, so it is possible.

AFAIK Punkbuster doesn't support Win 7 yet.

Thats why you don't use pre-release OS for gaming tbh.

Not sure if there is a way to get around that.

If anyone is having problems getting BF2 to run on Windows 7 without punkbuster kicking you after about a minute with this error:

Restriction: Unknown Windows API Function [131131]

...this is what I did to fix the problem, although I can't guarantee this will work or that you need to do all of this to get it to work.

1) Right click the BF2 shortcut you use, properties, compatibility, run as administrator, tick box.

2) Navigate to your BF2 install location and do the same for the actual BF2 .exe in there.
THIS WORKED!!

3) Navigate to your Punkbuster folder somwhere in appdata. For me it is:

C:\users\jamsta\appdata\Local\PunkBuster\BF2\pb\

In there there is an .exe for Punkbuster called "PnkBstrB" instead of running this as administrator I have this in compatability mode with Windows Vista.
I dont have a pnkbstrA or B. exe...  the run as admin check in compability tab worked! Thanks Getto!
