Monitor is Samsung 245B non HDCP compliant. A VGA input is free.
Can you get a VGA(female) to HDMI(male) adapter?
You could try VGA-->DVI-->HDMI. Not sure what that would do to the video quality but it's worth a shot. Adapters are fairly cheap.
I think I have seen those adapters in the past.....Sup wrote:
hmm not sure if this would work as the HD signal needs to get converted to analog. I think it would be best to get that "PS3" cable that is bundled with PS3 and then to VGA or somethingebug9 wrote:

Usually a biggish box and quite expensive (£20-£50).
Yeah you'd need more than just an adapter to go VGA to HDMI, you'd have to have a converter (if they make them) that can take the digital signal from the PS3 and make it analog for VGA.Bertster7 wrote:

They do make them. Like I just said, I've seen them, but they're quite expensive.jaymz9350 wrote:

A lot of them say they don't work with laptops or Xbox 360s. I've never seen any say they don't work with the PS3, but it's something you might want to watch out for.
why would you need M&K for GTAIV?.Sup wrote:
I might as well buy a new Monitor. What I would also like to know is mouse/keyboard compatibillity with PS3. Anyone tried connecting PC peripherals to PS3? Would need them for games lets say GTA4

It's a lot easier to aim with a mouse than with a joystick on a controller. Quicker too.FatherTed wrote:

I haven't tried either one.

I've got a cheapo keyboard connected to mine via the usb. Haven't tried it for games but works fine for typing messages etc..Sup wrote:

If you want mouse and keyboard for GTA4, why not just get the game for PC? It's probably cheaper (or free if you want) and you wouldn't have to buy extra peripherals for the PS3..Sup wrote:

I've read that without something like I posted above, keyboard and mouse only work if the game has the option (in the menu, etc.). In other words the game has to be made for keyboard and mouse use and sadly very few games are. I'd love to use a keyboard and mouse on PS3 GTA IV too.

.Sup, you get an Xbox adaptor that allowes it to plug into an lcd monitor, do you now get one for PS3?
Instead of wasting $50+, why not just get a HDMI -> DVI adapter and swap the plugs?
I think he was refering to the fact that earlier you said:.Sup wrote:

Which kind of implies that there is another input that is in use, presumably DVI..Sup wrote:

I reckon that's what he means by swap the plugs.
Well I did say the monitor is non HDCP compliant so...Bertster7 wrote:

So? You get non-HDCP monitors that have DVI..Sup wrote:

I expected you meant it didn't have DVI, but I can easily see how it could've been misconstrued.

For the third time my monitor is non HDCP compliant meaning HDMI to DVI will NOT work.
That's a fair point..Sup wrote:

Well, you're not going to be able to do that without spending a fair bit of money on an adapter box.
All seems very silly to me, when presumably you could just use a cheap YUV-VGA adapter lead. The PS3 has component AV connectors, doesn't it?
Yeah regarding the adapter box-my thoughts exactly, way too expensive. The price is 90€ in EU, for 150€ more I can get a new monitor (thinking of t240). The PS3 got bundled with a composite cable so I would need video (female)>VGA (male?) cable?Bertster7 wrote:

Also a cheap box may or may not work.

*edit* Scrap that - it's the wrong way round.
