I know that I am going to get a rash of shit for posting this but I don't really care...I need a good rant. I am new to the online forums and new to PC gaming for the most part. BF2 was the first PC game that I really got into, and I LOOOOVEEE THE GAME. However, I got sick of coming to the forums to find a bunch of sarcastic, chest pushing, assholes that just be harsh about every word spoken. Pure negativity runs rampant through this, and all of the other BF2 forums I have seen. I thought that this is just the way that the gaming community ran...however, I was proven wrong. I bought Oblivion and started checking out the forums with that game to seek some help and to see some of the new stuff out there. EVERYONE was really supportive and it was actually a clean running community across the boards. I found help were I needed it and wasn't called a noob...or told I was over my head....or yelled at and called an asshole because they thought I should have searched....or told that I shouldn't play the game anymore. I even found a post where a person accidentally pushed a bugged mod that crashed the others players computers...they didn't say one harsh word to the author of the mod...instead they offered a helping hand in finding the bug and fixing it. I don't know why BF2 seems to be a train wreck of pessimism, maybe it's the beloved stats...or the competitive nature of people who are playing with each other, but it is ridiculous. Be a proud person and not a jack ass fuck and help EA/DICE make the beloved BF2 a better game.....help the other "noobs" learn to play the game to bring the competitive thirst to them.....help the lanners with setting up there stuff so they can have fun.

To those of you helpful people...like the FUCKING awesome author of this site who does it for the love of letting others share his capabilities, instead of hording them and insulting people and the other brilliant folks that show a community pride, I salute you. To everyone else....fuck off and go find an old playstation and your mommy to hang out with so you don't disease and infest the rest of us and our community.

You hit the nail right on the head when it comes to an asshat calling someone a n00b because they know less than they do. Thats the harsh reality of chatting with people online.

I wonder how they would feel, going from say a computerized world, to having to go to work as a machanic, welder, or any other profession that requires hands on labor and machanical knowlage, then getting treated like a total moron and insulted just because they cant do the work as some of the 30yr veterans of the trade.

...i love these forums, not because they aren't infested with jackasses and inane comments but because there are plenty of answers here to just about any question i can think of, i lurked for a couple of months before i joined and learned plenty simply by searching, it is also a fantastic place to find out something that you have just wondered about, like if anyone else hates the sound that reloading flares makes or who is the best zipline user in the world

we should all at least be thankful that the mods arent corrupt, vicious badgers who arbitrarily wield their powers without regard to all that is clean and healthy...many MANY forums are moderated very poorly

this is the first fps forum i have ever posted in and it is because i love the game so much and it allows so much development besides winning a single round as most don't, after a few hundred hours playing hte game it is a great relief to have a place to talk about all the things that happen that you simply dont have the chance to do ingame

don't know if the BF2 community is any different from other gaming communities ( haven't played CS for months now, but they had their share of idiots, that's for sure ) . I guess it is evenly balanced between nice, helpful people and asshats, it's just that the asshats generate more attention.

like armed forces, gaming communities are merely a representation of society. Ignore the asshats and talk to the nice people, I say.

I love these forums. Havn't met a person I havn't liked that I couldn't get rid of, (meaning that if I find a person I don't like they normally get banned - fine admin/mod work.)

And yeah, you'll find arrogant pricks wherever you go. Hell, I'm an arrogant prick, a dickhead, and so many other adjectives you can think of. Every once in a while I write something substantial though, and so do most people who enjoy writing "USE SEARCH" and other such comments while we're all pretending to be admins.

But yeah, in no way is BF2S the forum most full of whining arguing annoying pricks - look at teamGOD. We can't compete with that degree of ass-hattery.

I agree with the general flow of your statement though, (I DID read all of it,) and reckon that too much of this blatant chest-puffing and stat-superiority that seem to get people a bit out of line here needs to be kept in check a bit. We're generally all great people, so lets proove it.

You have a good point there, and i totally agree with you for the most part. These forum is full of people, who suck for their part of attention, they can´t get in real life. Who would pee their pants if you would grap them by the shirt when you meet them in bar around next corner.
On the other hand if you stay around for a bit longer, you will find some very decent people who you can talk to without feeling the urge to throw up the next second.
For the Oblivion part... :
Different games attract different people, so it just goes with the territory, if you meet more nice, laid back and relaxed people on a forum for a role play game than on one from a game with the purpose of shooting peoples head of every f***ing second.

It´s a bit like real life here... just more extrem, because people don´t have to fear any "physical" consequences if they annoy the shit ouf of the rest of us...

As you can see from the answers already written to your post, there are some "good" guys around here so don´t get desperate, mate.
Ignore the idiots, try to find some "sane" guys and stay around.
We need more people like you here.

and the other half you won´t even see, neither talk to, since you feel the difference in your personalities, too big to build a bridge.
you´ll find a maybe similar percentage in a class in school with 30 youngsters, aboard a divingship with 16 buddys, working in a big company with 200 employees, studying at the university with 1500 other students, in a holiday resort for 70 guests, leading your own business as a chief over 10 people or in the restaurant with 100 fellow eaters (yes, the only asshat in the room will be the guy on the table next to yours).
its simply not possible to be loved by and in love with everyone, and its not necessary. just try to find the 5,1% of supernice and lifelong friends, and if you found them, be careful with these friendships and treat them like a precious flower. then you won´t have the time to waste to think about the asshats.
and, especially for the bf2-forums out there: might be that the language in a first-person-shooter-forum where everyone is counting his kills sometimes becomes more offensive than in a kitten-breeder-forum

unfortunatly thats the way it goes the whole "i have a higher rank i am soooooo much better than you" really piss's me off especial when some captain comes in my server and i am in HIS tank FFS BAN, this game is not all about shiny badges and high ranks thats just a bonus, the real reward with this game is teamwork

Too bad there isn't a system that involves higher ranks with teaching pre-requisites. ie You must train 5 greenbacks to get to officer status. It'd be a pain to monitor such a system, but it would keep some of the more arrogant personas in check.
