From what I hear, those aren't the odds. Current stats in the UK show the mortality rate to be around 0.5% of cases where professional medical help has been sought. Estimates vary as to what the actual mortality rate is, but it is expected to be around 0.1% - with the highest risk group being those aged 25-50. There are contingencies in place for the mortality rate to be as high as 1% (which may be where the 1% figure floating around has come from). On paper it looks less dangerous than regular flu.smuder201 wrote:
