Don't misquote me. 192.168.1.254 is the address of my router I was asking why 10.0.0.138 worked as well.

Probably because that is the IP address assigned to the exposed port on the router.

And I was talking about router addresses, way to misquote practically everyone

Not so much sir, that's .76 Mb.
What do you mean? Advertised on my IPS's website says 7.6Mb, so the speed is about 760kbs download. Just out of general interest as I want to get this right. I'm confused by your statement.

Also, why do they use different IP's? Is it a router manufacturers decision or is it one by the ISP? I've always wondered that.
7.6 Megabytes = 60.8 Megabits = 7600 Kilobytes = 60,800 Kilobits
.95 Megabytes = 7.6 Megabits = 950 Kilobytes = 7600 Kilobits
.76 Megabytes = 6.08 Megabits = 760 Kilobytes = . 6080 Kilobits
.095 Megabytes = .76 Megabits = 95 Kilobytes = 760 Kilobits

At least over here, it's very popular with modem/router combo units.
Yes, and it's even more popular to have routers, switches, and wireless access points combined as well; those are all 'separate' devices.

Misquoted me as well. Once again, 192.168.100.1 is often a modem diagnostic page. What now?
Although, it seems you'll find the same page on a combined unit if you go to your default gateway, the router's LAN address.

Cheez, different routers have different addresses. It could have been any address on your list except 192.168.1.0 because that would likely be the network number, unusable as an interface IP.

Your router won't tell you the intended speed from your ISP, only your ISP can tell you. Maybe, MAYBE, if your modem is from your ISP it might tell you. Usually, you can connect to it with '192.168.100.1'.
No, it'd be a .76 MB connection.

Mb is megabits, which almost all ISP's use to measure speed. so he has a 7.6 megabit connection. which is a max of 7600/8 which is...950 kb/s max.

If we can go over this one more time: 7.6 Mb = 7600 Kb = 950 KB

You say that 7.6 Mb is .76 MB; you forgot to convert. You then try to convert; 7600 Kb divided by 8 is 950 Kb which is where you really should have changed the B; it's 950 KB, not Kb.
