Does anyone know anything about car Audio?

I'm planning on buying a system for my Ford Ranger and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to what I've chosen so far.

Deck = Alpine CDA-9886 CD-R/-RW/MP3/AAC/WMA Receiver
Sub = Apline R-10"
Speakers = Alpine SPS-507 5x7's (I'm not sure if these will fit in my truck, rangers have some fucked up speakers sizes)
Amp = Alpine MRP-M500 (Not sure if this amp is powerful enough to run my sub well)

Haven't really looked at boxes yet. My ranger is the ext cab with no jumper seats in the back. There is lots of room but there is like a 3 inch rise in the floor that could make it difficult. I'll probably just have to block up one side of the box. Or I might get my friends dad to make me a custom box, but it probably wouldn't be ported. He's made a few custom fiberglass ones that look awesome.

I"m pretty much set on buying that deck and sub. The only thing I'm not to sure about are the speakers and amp. Stuff doesn't have to be alpine, it just looks nice.

I'm only going with a single 10 because I don't want over the top bass, especially in my truck where I am going to be sitting right next to the sub. If I feel the  single 10 isn't enough, I'll get another one.

My Price range for the total system is about 1000 - 1500 Canadian. This includes buying the wiring kit and a box. I'll be doing the install by myself with some friends.

From what I've read, one 10" sub is more than enough in a ranger.

Here these two forums are a must if you own a Ford Ranger. Not just about audio, but engine, detailing, etc.
These guys will tell you what has the best sound in the truck, what you need, cost, etc.

you got to do with what you got, A ranger doesn't have the place a car has for subs, so you got to get creative. But yea I agree a lot of them are like "wtf did you think?" but a couple are neat.
