Installed rocketdock +stacks on this laptop, along with setting the taskbar to autohide, so i get my nice clean interface. But when i shut down + reboot, the stacks icon settings wipe (so the icon + path clears), and the taskbar resets to default.

Helps?

I get the same thing. With me it sometimes doesn't appear, so I Ctrl+Shift-Esc it, then open Rocketdock again, then when it asks if you want to load the default icons you hit no and you have it back to usual.

You should use ObjectDock instead, much easier to setup and use IMO.

How exactly is it better? It just means I've got to run a ton of bloatware with it.

fyi pressing start, typing in a few letters and hitting enter is the best solution
or Launchy if you're on XP

If you have anything close to a modern PC it really shouldn't matter. My instance of rocket doc uses only 9MB of ram.

Ted do you keep your settings in the ini file?

right click->dock setting->general

there is a checkbox saying "Store Setting in a Portable INI (Single User)", is that checked?

INI didn't work for me. I tried putting RD in the Startup folder as well, rather than the program doing it with no luck either.

If you kill rocket doc and just restart it (without restarting system) does it forget the settings?

I would use this to see where it is failing to persist its settings (or failing to read them). run this, kill rocketdock, then restart it again. Pause procmon, examine it (or output the results to a file, send it to me).

there is a fix for this, my friend had the same problem and we got it sorted.

Unfortunately, I forgot it.

When it asks you to revert to default, hit no and it remembers them again.

Ted, I just removed my fan stack and it's stopped doing it. Must be some bug with it.
