Through the SPDIF_IO connector?

Note: For the record, I am NOT talking about the Creative front panel, I accidentally called it that in the first thread and it's not what I meant so I remade it.  I am talking about the standard AC97 connector found on most cases.

I was worrying about it because I've noticed in the custom builds I've made that the cases all used the AC97 thingy that plugged into a port on the motherboard that looked like the SPDIF_IO port seen on the card in the picture.  Whereas my OptiPlex GX280 that I'm using and several other Dells I've seen have the front headphone port plug into the motherboard and conveniently into my X-Fi through that Creative Proprietary port on the upper left of the picture.  To clarify, the motherboard also has the Creative Proprietary port.

I'm just making sure because I REALLY don't want to lose front headphone port functionality since I only use my headphones pretty much.

Because I called it the wrong thing.  I wasn't talking about the Creative front panel thing thing, I was talking about the regular AC97 headphone port.

"Creative Proprietary Connector"

The proper pins are in that block. The SPDIF_IO looks right, but it doesn't have the right pins.

How-To on making a custom adapter

Edit: For the sake of flexibility, the pinout.

1 - Analog Ground
2 - Analog Headphone Out Left
3 - Audio Backpanel Mute -- short to ground to mute the backpanel (when headphones are plugged in)
4 - Analog Headphone Out Right
5 - same as #3
6 - Mic input from front panel
7 - No Connection
8 - VREF out -- voltage reference for Mic
9 - MIC IN MUTE -- ground when mic isn't plugged in, +12VDC when mic is plugged in
10 - Audio cable detect -- will be ground when headphones are plugged in (not normally used)

I'm not very good with fabrication, and the case got here today and like you said, it didn't fit.

If someone makes them, I'd buy one but if not, then I'm just gonna have to get a jack extender for the headphones.

It's extremely unfortunate that Creative didn't and still doesn't put the AC97 connection on their cards
