Hey guys, new to the boards...

I've been having this problem for a while. On specific maps in specific places I get a massive drop in FPS, a good example would be at Karkand. I get pretty decent FPS on most of the map up until the "Train Accident" control point. Any other points beyond that are a lost cause for me, as I cannot fight there to save my life.

I've tried everything, new drivers, defrag, old drivers, adding RAM, re-installing windows.... nothing. This also happens to me on the SF maps too. What kills me is that it wasn't like this a couple of months ago. I used to be able to play Warlord fine, now it's impossible.

The only major change that I had to my system during that time was a new monitor. I got a Dell 2005FPW 20.1 inch Widescreen monitor. I had to edit the Target Command line to fix the aspect ratio problem and to get it to run in it's native resolution of 1680x1050. Would this be the root of the problem?

My system specs are as follows:
AMD Athalon XP 2600+
2GB PC 3200
XFX 6800GT
Creative X-fi Extreme Music

i had this too

my solution is defrag but with other soft than windows like O&O defrag (space method)

it worked for me



thank you EA to give us very bad unfinisghed games...

EA dos not support wide screen monitors I remember havin that problem when I wanted to hook up my 120" Projector, not sure if the new patch supports wide screen but as far as I know originaly BF2 dos not support wide screen monitors. Peace Boris

I doubt that it's the monitor, as I have also got these symptoms and I have a standard 17in monitor, which used to run the game well, and I have changed nothing - except add that last patch 1.22.

Basically, I used to get a minimum of 30fps in any map, with most having an average of around 70. Now, everytime I play i get an average of 30fps, and in large fire fights it can drop to as low as 9, making the game unplayable.

I tried defragging, reinstalling, getting latest drivers, etc

The crucial point to consider here is that it is not system specs or drivers, as the drivers are current and it used to run fine on the same system. The only thing that sticks out for me is the patch.

I was just wondering if you could have bad ram..you might have a bad stick or two. Run memtest.
