Right so i brought my pc bout 2 years back...built it up from scratch, an had a problem with either chipset of graphic drivers, after the windows install, it caused the BSOD error every now and again. I recently just installed windows again, an a fresh driver install, has lead to exactly the same problem as before. Only this time, i cannot remember the fix, an which drivers where corrupt, so every now and again the computer blue screens. As said the pc has been used flawlessly with no problems for around two years, but recent reinstallation of the OS has caused this problem (the same as before). Occasionally when windows re-boots the resolution of the monitor is descaled, and not at its native resolution, indicating it could be a graphics problem..however i cant see why this would cause a blue screen ?

i can understand if no one can help, because the issue is very VAGUE (ask me as many questions as needed), all i would like to know really, is there anyway i can analyse the blue screen or test the computer to find the problem?

spec's found in sig (Y)

all help appreciate

sounds like a possible power supply issue... among other possibilities.
Power supplies can cause weird problems...
Have you run memtest to see if you have a bad memory stick?
and have you tried reinstalling vid card drivers?
Love is the answer

There is your problem...

if your GFX card - brand is just as bad it is just deemed to give BSOD errors <.<

thing is, i was able to by-pass the problem, around 2 years ago, when the BSOD error happened, so im almost certain its a driver software issue rather than a hardware mishap, i can see where your coming from though, definitely going to have to try with another PSU, just to be sure.

will run memtest now, and will try an full driver re-install (Y)
anyone else had problems with abit boards ?

download chipset drivers directly from Intel.

edit: abit ain't that bad, much better than MSI tbh. And Xpertvision cards are rebranded Palit, so those ain't so bad either.

When it comes to motherboards I refuse to touch anything but ASUS, Gigabyte should be pretty decent too I have heard...

as for GFX cards... It is Sapphire & Asus for ATi or Asus & XFX for Nvidia as far as I am concerned...

Low priced cards tend to be incompatible with the official drivers when it comes to GFX cards, mobo's though, depends on how "good" the company makes them,,,

Easy now mate

Have you tried googling the errorcode on the BSOD along with your Motherboard?

That might give you some results...

if the mobo has onboard GFX try that and see if it still BSODs, if it doesn't it is your GFX causing it

I read it but that board is far from crap as you stated, it's a rock solid P35 board.

Let me state this again, that boards is actually pretty good, only flaw in it is bit too high PWM temps.

As noted, have you checked the MS web site for the stop error that appears when the system crashes?

I would uninstall those graphics drivers and see if the BSOD's go away. What does the event viewer tell you? (System and Application)
