My friend has a Toshiba Satellite L305-s5907, and he wants to hook it up to his plasma tv
only way i saw was through the vga ports, is there another way or was i right?
and i need to find a decent priced 20ft vga cable for him

VGA is fine though Plasma isn't LCD when it comes to picture quality especially if you viewing it from close range. Even my low res. LCD TV (720p) sucks compared to my two 1920x1200 LCD monitors. Personally I would get a DVI cable and then use DVI>VGA adapters (you get those bundled with a GFX card) because you might need a longer DVI cable in the future.

his laptop has no hdmi but the plasma does, first thought of mine but it doesnt have it =/

You missunderstood me. He wont connect DVI cable straight to TV. Adapters would be used on both ends. That way he can use the cable for analog and digital connections if he will ever need it.
