I have Logitech Z4's (yes, Logitech, but they're decent enough) and an old pair of Sennheiser HD 570s.  Which would be better for listening to music with?  I haven't used either enough to hear much difference in the short term.

I prefer music played out loud, but it kind of depends where I am. If I'm walking around town, then headphones. If I'm in my room, speakers.

I'm not sure about the technical comparisons between your headphones and speakers, though.

No one will be able to answer that for you, its a personal preference. I like to listen with both

I like blaring music through speakers sometimes but I also find that even cheaper headphones I notice alot of details in music you miss through speakers.

Same. It really bugs me when people play their music on speakers in public, i don't want to listen to their music.

No headphones will ever be able to properly match any speakers due to the fact that they are headphones. However, purely sound quality-wise, those headphones will run in circles around those speakers.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Very true James. Panda if you really want to listen to details then headphones are better.

it's pretty hard to decide which is better when they are both sitting in front of you.. next to your ears..
