I have a Netgear Rangemax DG0834PN

Also have HP laptop with Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN wireless card

I also have my desktop plugged into my router via cat 5.

My laptop is experience "drop outs" on the internet. One minute it will be working then my browser will time out. I had refresh a few times and it finally comes up.

My router is configured as such

Channel: 11
Mode: G & B
Security: WEP
Encryption: 64 bit
Firmware Version: A2pB023b.d20e

My wireless network card has had the power management turned off and power set to 100%

My desktop has no "drop outs' and works 100% of he time.

I am well within range of the modem i.e. excellent signal.

Both laptop and modem are under 2 months old.

Any ideas what it might be?

Thanks
Harmor

My guess, and its only a guess, is that there's interference you have on channel 11 with someone else.

Try:  http://download.cnet.com/inSSIDer/3000- … ?tag=mncol

or the original: http://www.netstumbler.com/downloads/

This will show you all the Channels that are being used within your broadcast area.  Then change your channel to one that isn't being used.  Newer router auto-detect a channel being use and change channel automagically.
