BF2S Forums Medal wins after round 1 of 2???

I have a quick question here that Ive been wondering about... It seems that on most servers I play on, you play each map twice before it changes.  Sometimes you play 2 rounds as the same army, and sometimes it makes it so that you switch sides after the first round so that each team gets to play the map from both army's point of view.  Now, this is where im confused.  After the map is done the first time, it loads very quickly and you start the 2nd time with no wait.  The gold, silver, and bronze medals only show up after the 2nd time you play the map, as the game is loading the next map.  SO... IF I have the highest score at the end of the 1st round of the map, do I still get a gold medal for my stats even though it doesnt show it???   Or does the first round somehow factor into the 2nd round score for the map?  I understand that after the first round there is no need to load anything since the map is already loaded and you can go into the 2nd half of the ma with no wait, but Ive never figured out if I can only win medals the 2nd round on the map or if I can win medals on the 1st round as well even though no medals are shown after the round... THx in advance.
