It was a clever announcement, but its really just trying to steal some thunder from GM.

Just like GM's claim is bogus, this one is too.... The leaf doesn't even use gas so there are no gallons, and it will only do 100 miles to a charge. They are just using the same conversions GM did to come up with there outrageous claim to come up with one of their own.

Exactly...the EPA rating needs to be reworked for non-gasoline powered vehicles.

I agree. Both announcement were made to generate chatter. They succeeded, and tbh I can't blame them for doing it. The first round of ev's were victims of horrible marketing. I can't hold GM accountable for the EPA's lack of an EV energy rating.

Really you can't blame them it bit. I mean, they are a huge corporation, and they aren't on the strongest economic footing. I would honestly blame them if they DIDN'T do it.

I do blame the news media though. I have not seen a single news cast question or point out the reality of the situation.

They are working on it.

Which is part of what is so bogus... Everyone is all over the news, but no one points out the fact that the EPA is currently working with the SAE to come up with a better system... Which goes to show that the current one does not work for these vehichles.

Not a bad deal at all. Imagine how much we'd be saving on gas
