how are the prices in the UK though?  for a 80 GB in the US, you're looking around the $200+ mark, and not even for an Intel.  whereas for $75 i can get a F1 1TB.
but does he need another TB of storage or does he need performance?

Well he'd want an Intel, and 32GB probably isnt enough for programs + OS so he'd have to go to 64GB.  Meaning it would cost the big monies (~$700) and isn't worth it.  I'd say wait until prices are reasonable on SSDs.

Why would I want an Intel? Are OCZ and Corsair not good enough SSDs?

benchies have shown that the intel SSDs really are the fastest.  although unless you're doing just that (benchies), i think OCZ, Corsair, and G.Skill would be okay choices.

he doesn't need the fastest. a 200€ SSD will make a huge difference already, the question is is Zimmer prepared to pay 200€ for a drive

Intel absolutely rapes everything in random write and read which is most important.

I would say yes, sell the raptor. Invest in F1 or WD black if need more storage.

Underage for another 2 weeks

Though my brutal fake works

Anyways on topic, I have no use for SSDs at the moment, my HDD space is used for storage and SSDs really are useless for that due to price

Zimm since you mentioned getting OCZ ram:
21:38] <@[515]Mack> rami so šli spet gor
[21:38] <@[515]Mack> zaradi tornada na taiwanu al tam okol
[21:39] <@[515]Mack> ladje ne morjo plut
[21:39] <@[515]Mack> OCZ šli gor za 50%
A buddy that has a PC store says RAM prices have gone up cos there was a tornado in Taiwan and ships have difficulties shipping components to Europe. OCZ RAM prices went up by 50%. Not sure how its outside mainland Europe

OCZ RAM where I am looking at is on offer lol.

Anyway, someone explain this to me.

Why is the i7 940 a lot more expensive than the 950?

I think my final decision is i7 + mobo + RAM. Probably my best bet.

This look good? Or could it be better?

A 940 would add a whopping £200 to the end result, which is what I don't get. It's like £60 more expensive than the 950.... Why?!
