  • Can't install X-Fi Titanium Pro after upgrading from XtremeMusic

I uninstalled the drivers(or so I think) from the XtremeMusic by right-clicking and uninstalling it, but it froze after I clicked yes to uninstall so I went to task manager and stopped the operation, hoping it would be O.K.

Now I have the X-Fi Titanium in which uses older 2.17 drivers vs the 2.18 drivers that the old X-Fi series uses.  It shouldn't really matter because they're not the exact same card but every time I try to install the new ones it tells me that the setup has found a newer version of audio drivers and then it goes so fast supposedly installing that I can't even see the bar and then it prompts me to restart, which didn't work.

I have HD Audio installed but disabled, should I uninstall it?

Is that the name of it or can someone recommend me one.

And when the Creative website scans the card, it comes up with:

PCIe SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series, DR release 2.18.13

What the hell, obviously there never were any 2.18 drivers for the Titanium and it's not installed so it doesn't appear in the device manager except as a new device

software that removes drivers is called Driver cleaner. To me it sounds like you downloaded the wrong drivers

I reinstalled XP.  It looked pretty hopeless and now everything is working great.  No more artillery crackle either like it did with my XtremeMusic.  Strangely it didn't do that on my Dell, but in this custom built one it did.  Same video card, nVidia 8600GT in both machines and the mobo wasn't an nForce either.
