I ordered a Lenovo R500 with Vista Basic, planning on upgrading the operating system to Vista Business and later Windows 7 through downloads from MSDN-AA. The laptop arrived yesterday, so I downloaded Vista Business overnight (slow internet), and currently have a 3.7 GB iso file of what I presume is the installation DVD on my desktop computer. I tried burning this image to a DVD I had, using CDBurnerXP, but both my desktop and laptop will not recognize it as a boot disk (I ensured the DVD drive was first in the boot order both times.) Where did I go wrong? I probably should know how to do this, but I sadly don't, and googling yielded nothing of use. Any help would be appreciated.
As a side note, I'm intending to completely reformat the HDD when I install Vista Business, as I don't need all of Lenovo's software, worthless third party free trials, and partitions. Is it safe to assume the Vista boot disk will give me that option when I get it to work properly?
